Kino’s eyes fluttered open, her gaze clearing to see Tanji laying on his stomach there beside her. He looked so peaceful, half of his hair having escaped the ponytail. She couldn’t resist reaching out to brush back a strand, it was amazingly soft to touch, and actually kind of pretty.
Tanji stirred, which meant he really hadn’t been sleeping. He had two kinds of sleeping, one that was so easily disturbed by anything, more like napping, and the other that made him seem more like the breathing dead. His hand slipped out from beneath the velvet pillow to find Kino’s hand, grasping it without ever opening his eyes, a little smile playing over his lips.
He turned onto his side, using the grip upon her hand to pull her right up against him in the same instant, arm wrapping around her slender waist and keeping her there. Kino looked up from her blushing to gaze into his half-opened eyes, blush going a little deeper. His eyes flickered to the clock on the dresser, they’d only been sleeping there an hour or two, it was still pretty early in the night. Normal ningen teens would probably be out partying on a night like this, it being a Friday. She’d forgotten about that, they didn’t have to go anywhere in the morning. Kino thought that sounded really… pleasant.
She smiled softly and leaned forward to kiss him, sweetly, taking her time. She wanted to express just how pleasantly surprised she’d been, finding a Tanji she didn’t know she had, a good cook, a gentle lover, and a devoted companion who so easily spoke the words forever and eternal. It brought tears to her eyes.
Tanji blinked as Kino pulled away, removing his hold around her waist to caress her face, “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing… everything is… everything is just so wonderful,” she snuggled herself against his chest, seeking the comfort of that embrace that made everything better. His strong arms wrapped around her, pulling her slender form somewhat on top of him as he scooted up to recline against the pillows, stroking her hair lovingly. She closed her eyes and settled her ear against his heart, listening.
“Tanji, how… how can you talk about… things like forever when I know… how you feel about the future, all that about living another day and such,” Kino was blushing badly, but there it was, stuttered and stumbled, but there nonetheless.
Tanji canted his head and gazed down at her, fingers idly playing in her hair. She had her face pressed against his chest, but he could tell easily she was pretty flushed. “Cuz forever… it’s like… well it’s beyond the physical. The physical is so much beyond our control, but our souls… the part that really ties the two of us together, that’s the lasting part.”
Kino thought on that for awhile, Tanji letting her to the silence left. He felt a small movement of her lips against his skin, that soft pretty smile that he loved so dearly. “You really meant it.”
Tanji blinked, hugging her a little tighter, “Of course I meant it, you’ve got me forever, no gettin rid of me now.”
“Ooooh no,” Kino moaned and sat up, breaking into quiet giggles a moment later.
“Why you,” Tanji grinned and caught her with a fierce kiss as punishment, turning her easily onto her back and pinning her there, pulling back to gaze down at her smugly. Kino retaliated by reaching up and tugging on his ponytail until their noses touched. “Tryin to tell me somethin?” he blinked, resting his forehead against hers.
“It’s simple, you silly, that was a come here,” she laughed and took his face in her hands, kissing him back, but so much gentler. “Sometimes you make things too difficult,” Kino scolded breathlessly.
“I am difficult,” he pouted, trying to recover from that control-melting kiss.
Kino couldn’t help but giggle, touching his lips with a slender finger, “You are so cute when you do that.”
Tanji looked blatantly shocked.
“What?” she blinked curiously.
“You didn’t blush,” a sly grin crept into his features, and naturally she went bright red. “Ah ha! There it is. Now that’s cute,” he leaned down and kissed each cheek.
Kino slapped his chest when he pulled back, trying to look angry, knowing she failed, “Did that on purpose,” she couldn’t quite keep the pouting tone from her voice.
“I’m sorry,” he brushed the tip of his nose against hers, forcing her to smile despite herself. It was amazing how genuinely apologetic he could be for something so small and excusable. Well, at least he meant sorry when he said it, she knew plenty of people who probably couldn’t have meant it even if they tried.
Tanji slipped both hands beneath her head, straightening out his arms and stretching out atop her, burrowing his face playfully against the center of her chest. It pushed the blanket down to about the level of her waist, making her shiver, not from the cold but from the fact that she was… exposed. Kino tried hard to forget that little fact, running her hands along his arms as he kissed that depression between her breasts. She couldn’t help but notice, with a touch of pain, those wraps covering his arms.
Tanji blinked up at her suddenly, looking at her in question. Kino realized why, unconsciously her fingers had begun picking at the bandages. She blushed and quit, turning her head to the side and closing her eyes.
“You’re right,” she flinched a little as he slipped beside her, sitting and pulling the blanket lovingly up to her shoulder, “They’re comin loose.”
Kino opened her eyes and blinked at him, surprised he hadn’t perceived what she’d really been thinking. Tanji had laid one arm across his lap, picking at the wrap to get it to come loose so he could unwind it and wrap it once more. She bit her lip and sat up, holding the blanket to her chest and reaching out with a hand. He looked at her a little confused, but surrendered his arm to her silent request, watching as she undid the wrapping with one hand. She switched holding the blanket to her other hand, taking the bandages and dropping them over the side of the bed with a completely expressionless face.
Tanji watched her repeat the process with the other arm, and finally his curiosity got the better of him. He reached to tilt her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze. Kino blushed, of course, sighing with a slightly exasperated tone as she reached up and gently pushed his headband back and off. He looked even more confused.
Kino couldn’t quite suppress the smile, pressing her lips together in a fine line didn’t even help. “There… now you’re totally undressed.”
He laughed, covering his face with both hands. Giggling, Kino reached up and tickled his ear. Rather unexpectedly, Tanji wrapped her into his arms and pressed her back down onto the bed, laughing now too.
“An’ you call me silly,” he kissed playfully.
“Just being honest,” Kino tried desperately at a serious expression, reaching up to gently trace the outline of the Jagan. She smiled at his shudder as he slipped his head to the side, against her neck, “Is there any place on you that isn’t sensitive?”
Tanji tried for some kind of response, but it was strangled as her touches slipped down to massage his neck. She loved how his normally tense body just seemed to melt when she touched those certain places. It was nice to have that sort of… control. Kino trailed her hands down his back, finding that other spot he loved. Even though she probably should have been able to say what vertebrae it was precisely, the knowledge eluded her at the moment. What really mattered was that she knew the place.
With a gentle push Kino easily toppled him off of her and onto his back, kissing him. Normally tense yes, and that tenseness was a strength she usually couldn’t compete with. But with him now relaxed it was as little more even, especially since he had to weigh less than she did.
Kino curled her legs beneath her, sitting there beside Tanji, running both hands up his chest, then back down across his ribcage to his firm stomach. The heels of her hands came to rest upon his hips. Yes, he’d definitely lost weight lately, that was painfully obvious, and it worried her. Tanji broke her from her thoughts by placing his hands on top of hers, catching her eyes with that cute little questioning gaze.
“It’s really too bad we can’t… that moments like this don’t last,” she averted her eyes, blushing just a little.
“Then we jus gotta enjoy what we’ve got,” Tanji’s hands moved to grasp her waist, trying to get her to do something that she denied him with a softly plotting smile. He was too relaxed to put up any sort of decent fight.
“Over,” Kino demanded softly and simply, pushing his hip closest to her to force him to obey, unnecessary since she knew he’d listen to her no matter what. With a slightly pouting and confused look he moved onto his stomach, slipping his arms beneath the pillow that supported his head, trying to look over his shoulder to see what she had planned. Truthfully she wasn’t precisely certain herself.
First, Kino reached down to the end of the bed, where earlier he’d laid that shirt for her to sleep in, slipping it quickly over her head. That felt better, a little less embarrassing exposure, giving her the chance to think about other things. Besides, there was something to be said about wearing nothing but a comfortable tee-shirt, and his shirt in addition to that.
She gave a long look to his back, spanned across almost entirely by the flaming colors of the phoenix. That spirit creature that rested there just barely within his flesh… she wasn’t sure… Kino shook it off, reaching up to his shoulders to brush the failing ponytail away, kneading her fingers into his neck and shoulder muscles. She had to smile, seeing him close his eyes, relaxing further under her touch. Continuing to massage she leaned down to press her lips to the back of his neck, her kisses seeking that spot, amused by his quiet murmurs. Yes, she enjoyed doing this to him, and she’d barely started.
Kino pulled back from kissing, slipping her hands down to Tanji’s shoulder blades, putting just the slightest amount of heat into the touches. He shifted a little, turning his face more into the pillow to quiet his noises of pleasure, especially when she reached his lower back, spending a considerable amount of time there.
“Stop,” Tanji lifted his head, voice shaky but undeniably begging.
Kino smiled softly, sitting back and letting her hand play lightly along his spine. Tanji moved himself slowly onto his back, a lazy and barely responsive hand returning to her waist, trying what he had before Kino’s torturing massage. Even though his muscles were still too relaxed to put any kind of force behind his motions, she let him win. He guided her slowly toward him until she was straddling him, admiring how gorgeous she looked in that shirt. It was even more beautiful than he’d imagined.
She tensed visibly, having left a space between them, the ends of the long shirt tickling his belly.
Don’t you trust me itoshii? he thought tenderly.
Supporting herself with her hands on his shoulders, she bent down and kissed him lightly. “I… I trust you,” she whispered against his lips.
"Torture me like that all you want, my angel… as long as I have you…"
Kino pressed her lips against his shoulder as his strong hands guided her into position, and yet paused, as if waiting for something. She slipped a hand behind his head, burying her fingers into his hair and lifting her head to seek out that place on his neck that made him shudder.
I’m yours she responded meekly, yet smiling, unable to completely get rid of all the uneasiness despite herself.
He answered by completing the motion, as gently and slowly as he could physically stand. Still she cried out, pressing her lips hard against his skin to quiet herself. That sound of pleasure, that pressure against that blissfully sensitive spot, it drove him right over the edge, flooding her with his release.
“Tanji,” she gasped, almost too quietly to be heard.
“Shhh,” he answered, hands pushing gently at her hips to rock her, smiling as he brushed his lips over her soft skin.
She gasped again a moment later, surprised to find him excited again that quickly, having never left her. She’d had no idea that guys could do that… Consuming waves of pleasant shudders running throughout her body didn’t allow much thought on it, chasing all ability to think away. Kino closed her eyes and let herself be carried away by it over and over again.
Slightly different, but no less pleasurable, were the sensations when Tanji pushed her gently up into a sitting position. He hit an entirely different place deep within her that drove them both to come together.
Kino collapsed against his chest, breathless and exhausted, nuzzling into him and slipping into unconsciousness despite her best attempts not to.
